Hidden in Plain Sight: Favorite Hidden Blades from BudK
By Desiree Weeks
When it comes to self-defense, having a weapon that isn’t blatantly obvious can be a literal lifesaver. Weapons can be hidden within even the most unassuming of items, such as belts, bracelets, canes, and umbrellas.
We have a wide array of hidden and concealed weapons that are the perfect blend of subtle and substantial. Here are just a few of my top favorite concealed blades that you can buy right now!
Black Umbrella Sword
I love to be prepared for anything, so obviously I love this black umbrella sword. This practical umbrella has a waterproof nylon canopy with a sturdy steel frame, providing shelter from both sun and rain. Hidden within the umbrella shaft is a 14 1/2" stainless steel blade with a no-slip grip handle. No one will ever be able to tell that your chic new umbrella houses a blade. Deploying the blade is simple; just push the button and you’re ready to attack.
Vorthelok Forged Sword Cane
This may not be the most practical sword cane, but the gold edition of the Vorthelok Forged Sword Cane is certain to make you stand out. Kit Rae is known for his fantastic eye and this piece from the Swords of the Ancients collections is a testament to his work. It features a gold-plated horned skull handle with black accents. From the handle extends a 26” 1045 carbon steel blade engraved with runes that translate to “Out of Darkness Comes Light.” The blade seamlessly fits into the wooden cane shaft that has its own cast metal fittings and a rubber toe to prevent slipping while using as a cane. The blade easily deploys from the cane shaft using a hidden push button.
Night Watchman Hook Self-Defense Sword Cane
If you’re looking for a more subtle self-defense cane, this piece from Night Watchman may be just what you need. The cane itself is made of black, hard coated aluminum which is useful both for assisting with walking and as a striking weapon. Concealed inside the shaft is a 25” 1060 high carbon steel blade that can be pulled out using the curved molded fiber-filled nylon handle.
Trailblazer Hidden Knife Paracord Bracelet
The Trailblazer Hidden Knife Paracord Bracelet is a rugged accessory that combines two survival tools into one unique bracelet. The 1 1/4” stainless steel blade is hidden within the buckle of the bracelet and can be pulled from the buckle and mounted back to there’s a handle for cutting. Adding to its usefulness is the black woven paracord of the bracelet that can be used for several outdoor survival purposes.
Ridge Runner Black Belt with Hidden Knife
Combining the practicality of a belt and a blade, this belt is the ideal piece to add to your wardrobe. The belt itself is black canvas and at 53 1/2" long, it can fit most adults. What makes it truly stand out is the 3 3/4" TPU buckle that hides a non-reflective 3 1/2" stainless steel blade.
Enforcer Tactical Gauntlet
When I think of a hidden blade, this is what I imagine. I personally blame the popular video game series Assassin’s Creed for my mindset. That having been said, the Enforcer Tactical Gauntlet is a super cool piece. The arm sheath itself is made of PU and nylon canvas with a secure Velcro closure and buckle straps. Strap it to your forearm and have a hidden stainless steel OTF blade at your disposal. To deploy this blade, simply use the push button slider. As if it weren’t already cool enough, this piece also includes two 5 1/2" one-piece stainless steel throwing knives.
