Traditionally, the shirasaya was built to protect a katana's blade when it was being stored. The Kojiro Brownwood Shirasya has the classic, simple lines of its forbears, a design centuries old. The hand-forged blade is sharp right out of the box and the hamon line is visible. The reddish-brown wooden handle and scabbard fit together almost seamlessly with black bands marking where they separate.
