Copywriter
The Copywriter is responsible for creating the highest-quality, product descriptions for On The Edge Brands, Inc. This position plays a key role as dedicated writer and point person for product copy through its entire life cycle, from early design inspiration through pre-production marketing to web site description upkeep; all of which is integral to the support of global brand expansion and awareness. The copy must inspire and inform the customer as well as the internal team — both providing the best service and narrative and communicating the inspiration behind the brand and products. The copy must elegantly marry editorial content and commerce.
Responsibilities:
Product Copywriting
- Write and edit product copy as well as implement edits and feedback.
- Write and edit standardized boilerplate language for brands that can be used throughout multiple product categories and business channels (emails, web, etc.).
- Track all product copy throughout the editing process and work closely with the copy editor.
- Maintain and organize the department’s seasonal product copy schedule and traffic all of its stages — from receipt of product knowledge to all phases of editing to ensuring that final copy is entered into the database system. Work closely with relevant teams to ensure deadlines are being met.
- Write and filter all special product copy requests from other departments and act as creative team expert on product.
Product Copy Maintenance
- Upload approved product copy into our database system.
- Review website for errors after each site refresh and make necessary updates.
- Proactively update product copy as needed based on feedback from customer service, reviews, etc. to ensure copy is always up to date with the latest information and there is consistency across all channels.
Communication/Collaboration
- Serve as primary point-person for product copy and help disseminate product descriptions/style information across the business, working with merchandising, PR, buying, retail training and other teams that leverage product copy.
- Forge strong working relationship with merchants, designers, stylists and marketing to ensure copy points are on message, including product detail info.
Writing/Style Content
- Write copy/brainstorm for various projects and initiatives as needed, including email, site copy and captions, product-related content for blog and site, etc.
