Inasanity

I have tried to break this wax wood sword, and so far have been completely unsuccessful, the only complaint i can come up with is the tip gets worn away quick when used as a walking stick.

Fairly good

Was a good walking staff, but for the tip. Mine is splitting. Sanding it down to make its use more practical will make it too short. I still like though. So unless it breaks it will still double as good walking stick with defensive capabilities. Oh, use the steel training weapons they offer here for practice, they are better suited. Good but with Problems

Reviewed By: Edward (Halstad,  MN)
The White Wax Wood Swords are excellent for sparring practice but they do suffer an inherant flaw - the tapered tips. White Wax Wood is very strong and durable but the tips tend to split when blocking an opponents weapon of the same type. During our third ten minute sparring match of the day we received two of these items, the tip of one sword split approximately two inches down the length of the 'blade'. This was wrapped in tape for support and to protect the sparring partner for future sparring. Six days later we again sparred, and during the second of the third sparring match the tip of the second white wax wood sword split about an inch and a half down it's length. Again it was wrapped in tape to prevent further cracking and to protect ones opponent. Originally I thought it was a result of a flaw in the first sword, as there was a knot near the tip causing weakness, there was no such flaw in the second - which means that these white wax swords, while durable, would probably be better served if the tapered tips were cut down, sanded smooth, and then covered with polyurethane. Granted you lose about five inches of blade length, but you will not have to worry about skewering your' opponent. BudK wants the items returned so that they may examine the product but considering their price and the cost of shipping - I think I will just bow out of that option and do as I recommended here.
