Wow, and wow, and wow. Best bowie I own. Large, weighty. and sharp! What more could you ask for in a knife? I also like the sheath. And I especially like the brass work on the hand guard and pommel. At the price, and out of all that is out there, this one is a must.

Extremely nice, inexpensive tool. Handy for camping, hunting, or any other wilderness activity. Don't buy a new sheath, just wrap the existing one with duct tape. Had my Rambo III and my Gerber BMF with me in Central America, Africa, and the Middle East (late '80s and early '90s). I have finally found, in the Timber Rattler, a knife that would have been worthy of joining them in my jump bag. NOTE:"Inexpensive" does not mean "cheap".

For the money, this is the best deal on a bowie that I know of. This knife is HEAVY, and built like a tank. Its one piece of almost quarter inch carbon stainless steel that comes up like a razor if you know what your doing. There are 3 big rivets on a 2 piece silver wood grip. If your into bowies, buy this one. Nice basket weave sheath too. You might need to re-enforce it, like I said, knife is HEAVY!!!

Great heavy blade, feels like a short sword. Leather sheath need beefing up. Used nylon strapping from Wally world camping section, glued to front inside sheath around loop and down back of sheath with outdoor weatherproof contact cement also from Wally World. Used leather rivets around perimeter of sheath, helped a lot. Can't go wrong with price at less than $18.00.

Some minor cosmetic defects, but an awesome knife. It's almost frightening to hold in your hand. It's easy to see how those unfortunate three lost the Sandbar Fight with Col. Jim weilding such a weapon. The Sandbar Fight --- This is the knife that became famous after the sandbar duel of 1827. Bowie and Wright were attendants on opposite sides of the duel. When the principals quit the field, a fight broke out among the attendees and Bowie, though seriously injured by a rifle shot, killed the 3 men, by almost decapitating one, splitting the skull of another, and disembowelling the third. Bowie and his knife, described by witnesses as "a large butcher knife," quickly attained celebrity and the Bowie brothers received many requests for knives of the same design.

A Big Bowie

If your looking for a "big" bowie knife, you've found it. This thing is huge! Although the price is cheap, the knife ain't. It's well built and has a nice, sharp edge. I wouldn't recommend it for small hands or weak wrists. This bowie is big and heavy. In my back yard, I used it to slice through some tree limbs and didn't even break a sweat. It'll get the job done. The sheath is this products only weak spot. If your too rough with it, you'll probably wind up looking for another one or having to make your own. However, I'm giving this knife five stars because this blade simply blew my mind. If your looking for a "big" bowie to use around the house or in the woods, you might as well go ahead and get this one.

Long Lasting Blade

Reviewed By: BladeMaid (Antioch,  IL)
I've had this knife for about a year and a half now. I've only done one thing to the blade since buying it, and that was right when i got it, i sharpened it. My business specializes in cleaning, appraising and sharpening blades, hence the name Blade Maid Sword Services, and after the initial sharpening, it hasn't gone dull since. it slices cardboard as easily as it field-dresses deer. just like butter. the only complaint that i would have is that the two rivets that hold the belt strap to the sheath have started to weaken and are pulling through the leather sheath. so i will need to replace the sheath soon, as it is beyond repair. I'm going to chalk that one up to age however, so i'm still giving it 5 stars. Its a great knife that will last and one that i will use for many more years to come. My son will inherit this knife when i'm done with it (all though i don't see that happening any time soon. lol)

Hefty! The fit and finish of this knife far exceeded my expectations. The blade geometry is well done, the fittings are solid with no hint of rattle, and the handle fits my hands well. The weight forward balance is perfect for what the knife is intended for, clearing brush, chopping limbs and butchering game. And, to top it all off, it came fairly sharp right out of the box. The sheath isn't great, but I usually make my own anyway, so it doesn't matter. This would still be an excellent knife at two to three times the price!

As with the other TR knife, the sheath, while good quality, could be improved upon by making the belt loop as wide as the sheath body and perhaps stitching it instead of riveting it. I received the Outlaw Bowie yesterday and I am very impressed with the amount of steel in this blade at ¼” thick makes it the finest knife in my collection. This is what I thought Jim bowie‘s knife must have looked like or at least felt like. I have bought other Bowie knifes over the years and this is without question the best yet. I would have been proud to have carried this in Viet Nam it feels like it could open up the side of a tank without any trouble at all. This would make an excellent combat knife for self defense. This is a “MUST HAVE” tool for anyone who is an outdoors type of person

Man, this knife is incredible, especially for the price. It is a MONSTER!!! Yet it's well balanced and feels good in your hand. The workman ship is excellent as are the appointments. And this baby will cut your fingers off if you're not careful, it says "surgical steel" and it means it in every sense of the phrase--it's sharper than h***. We now know that those Pakistanis are tough and know their weapons. This baby is a tool, a weapon, just a very cool thing to have in your collection. The sheath is your typical run of the mill cheap leather item, but it serves the purpose and the knife fits hand to glove. Get this one if you are a Bowie fan--old Jim would have loved this one.

This thing is anything but ordinary, but the most obvious feature to this knife/cleaver/mythical god slaying blade, is besides its size is weight. This f****r is HEAVY!!! You better consider that very carefully if you plan on taking this anywhere, and on using it, if you lose control of this in a swing, pray, because if what you're swinging at doesn't catch it, something will. However taking all the hindrances into account and working around them, this knife will be very helpful. A flick of a wrist will effectively bury the blade into d**n near anything, it will make kindling very effectively, and shavings, the edge will need work but nothing impossible. Overall it is a good camp knife and in a pinch a serious hand held defense tool. Worth the money.

Weight in sheath = 2.1 lbs, balance point is right below the sharpened area of the blade. 7 mm blade thickness (just under 1/4"). Feels good but VERY big and heavy. Fit and finish fairly poor (as expected) but it's gonna be a wonderful beater knife at camp. Sheath will be OK for now, but does draw with difficulty (durability unknown). Good sharp edge. Handle guard & pommel provide secure group but I'll probably drill a lanyard hole for safety. Feels OK in my gloved hand, too. NO COMPLAINTS HERE. This is only one of my big knives, so it may not get a ton of use... but when it does I'm sure I'll like it.

However, the Sheath SUCKS big time I bought two knives and the SHEATH broke the very first time. I have a problem because with a blade this big you need A SHEATH to hold it, and it is not easy to find another that would fit it. That is a shame because the knife is TOP OF THE LINE.

This bowie is something to behold and handle. I love sharp knives, right out of the box and this one is sharp, both in blade and looks. It has a mans handle on it. Many knives currently produced are made with small grips and I have a big hand, even Crocidile Dundee would approve of this one. I love it and two more are going to be on order, on this visit to the site. Thanks Budk, for another winner.

Hang on to your C.C.

Reviewed By: chrisl317 (Warren,  MI)
I was a little apprehensive when I found out these were on back order. For a field knife this will do, but, the workmanship is sub-par. Made in Pakistan with a back order that'll probably be a good part of their GNP, this knife was made very slip shod. Scale handle holes mis-drilled and filled with putty. It looks like it was made with a hacksaw, file and disc sander. They were probably under a lot of pressure to get these out. The sheath is naugahide, not leather. As I said, if you're going to use this in the field fine, it's already beat-up a bit. If you're thinking about a display knife, you'll need a machine shop and have to rework the blade and the furniture. Heck, it was only twenty bucks, I'd have given up another $20 just to have had some TLC put into it's construction.

I have been seeing this for months in the magazine and it looks amazing. When it arrived it came with a sheath that is poorly made and fits even worse. The knife itself is a disaster. Horrible scratches and machine errors all over the blade appearing so bad it looks used and abused and to top off the "stainless" blade it was covered in rust out of the box. Arrived looking as though someone beat the h**l out of it and left it in the rain for weeks and then returned it and they shipped it to me.
