Excellent

This knife is boss. First off, the description does not say what kind of steel the blade is, but the catalog I got with the knife said it was AUS-8. I got both in the same shipment, no need to call in for the second. It came very sharp, but I sharpened it up a little. The point is not very sharp, but the rest of the edge is. It is very fast, and feels like the makers created it with a tank in mind. The window breaker, unlike some knives, is sharp at the tip; sharp enough to crack open a skull with impunity, so if you like using the butt to knock someone out w/o killing them, you are out of luck. A great choice for an urban survival knife, although serrations are nice, so get another knife with serrations if you want. So good in fact, that if someone I know asks, I will give them my extra for free. Get it before the 2-for-1 deal becomes 1-for-1.

This knife is amazing! I bought 4 for my friend and his family. Who are all volunteer firefighters. I received all 8 in the mail. Sent one to my dad gave one to a coworker. (he is also a firefighter). Kept 2 for myself. and gave the other four to my friends. But they are absolutely amazing. I always carry one on me. They come sharp and you can make them sharper! I have accidentally cut myself a lot with mine. And it never gets dull! I've cut cardboard paper wood fabric and it never dulled on me. Buy it! You get another free! My only complaint is the screws come loose on it once in a while. Might get some loc-tite to put on them but either ways its amazing buy it!

Best Bang For the Buck Anywhere
Reviewed By: John Fogarty (Indianapolis, IN)
This is easily the best knife for your money anywhere. It's a heavy-duty, solid metal frame (weighs over 5 oz) rescue folder, with a seatbelt cutter, glass breaker and--best of all--a fast, assisted-opening black anodized blade that's mega-sharp right out of the box. AND it's currently on sale 2-for-1, which works out to less than five bucks per knife. Ounce-for-ounce, dollar-for-dollar, the best deal I've seen anywhere.

Descent Knife
Reviewed By: Mark Harburg (Ann Arbor , MI)
I bought these about 8 months ago and one of them is completely broken the screw where the blade is held came loose and when I tried to fix it, the blade just became really flimsy. But other than that these are great knives for carrying around and showing off to people. The spring loaded part worked best the first few months then it wore itself out getting less springy. For ten bucks its a good deal.

good
Reviewed By: Ben Man (Springfield , MA)
I love this knife. It is quite heavy which is something that i love about it and you can get it open very quickly with the assisted opening. Though after a while it gets a few flaws. One of which being that the seatbelt cutter is not very sharp, two being, the assisted opening broke after a while and opening it was loud and "clinky" but after a while it worked it's way to be just a smooth opening. Also, the pocket clip got wiggly and it is hard to find a tool that will fit it to tighten it.

2nd to none for the price

I used this for the first time yesterday during my companys drill night. The glass punch works really good, better than the one i use to have, the knife it self needed to be sharpened a little once you get it but still pretty decent. The only issue i had with it was the seat belt cutter part, it would not easily cut through a seat belt. Over all i still think this was a great product. Would highly recommend to all my firefighter brothers out there.

Close, but no cigar!
Reviewed By: Technodawg (Granite City, IL)
This is a well made knife, but I would not think this one is for a fire fighter, as it is not as big as the specifications say it is. The blade is 3.25 inches long ans the handle is a little under 4.5inches, plus there's no serration on the blade, to use in case the seat belt cutter fails to do the job. I'm not saying that it's not a good knife, as it is a good knife for the money. But if you want a top of the line rescue knife I'd recommend the Ridge Runner models #19 RR562, or The #19 RR559. They are the same price but the models I listed are much longer, wider, and the blade is a hair under 4inches, 1 inch of the blade is serrated. I'm 6ft 2inches, with very large hands, and this knife fills my hand like it should. I gave 2 of the five that I purchased to a fishing buddy of mine as he works for the fire department in my town, and most of the guys working there are at least 6 feet tall. If you are happy with the smaller #19 RR490 buy a few of them as they are a good buy, but I would opt for the larger.

So I've had this knife for a few days now. Knife is very sharp. Seat belt kinda works well, but the window breaker tip isn't that great. I tried breaking a beer bottle with it and the tip went flat. The point flattened out and is now useless. I bought 4 so I got 4 for free. Bought some for some friends, then I got 2 for myself and giving 1 away for a friend for Christmas. but yeah. Great knife for the blade, but not exactly for the bells and whistles, but you can't go wrong for 2 for 1 so buy it!
